Air Classifier
Air classifiers are industrial machines that utilize air flow to precisely separate materials by size, shape, and density. They are ideal for various applications where traditional methods like sieving are impractical due to fine particle size or high processing volume.
Our air classifiers offer several advantages:
- Sharp separations: Achieve narrow particle size distributions for optimal product quality.
- Dry processing: Eliminate the need for water, reducing environmental impact and operating costs.
- Versatility: Handle a wide range of materials, from powders and plastics to minerals and aggregates.
- Scalability: Accommodate large processing capacities for continuous industrial production.
Air classifiers are widely used in industries like:
- Food processing: Separating flour fractions, cocoa powder, spices, and other dry ingredients.
- Plastics: Classifying plastic resins, pellets, and flakes for recycling or manufacturing.
- Chemicals: Segregating pigments, catalysts, and pharmaceutical powders for precise formulation.
- Building materials: Sorting sand, cement, and other aggregates for construction applications.
- Recycling: Separating mixed materials by size and density for efficient recycling processes.
Let us help you select the ideal air classifier for your specific needs. Our team of experts can guide you through the selection process and ensure you achieve the desired results.

The DP® Aerova Air Classifier is high efficiency air classifier suitable for classifying dry materials in range from 1 - 150 microns designed for throughputs of 5 kgs per hour to 10 tonnes per hour. Aerova classifier is forced-vortex unit which can be operated as stand-alone system or within the milling system.
Material can be fed over wide range of variation and this unit can give accurate product output with required fineness.
The Aerova Classifier is prominently used in classifying the particles in the minerals, chemicals, metal powders, ceramics, plastic and recycling industries.
Principle of Operation
DP Aerova classifiers classifies the particles based on the principle of opposing forces, centrifugal and drag force. As product enters tangentially into the air & material inlet, all the particles are subjected to drag force by the air conveying fan. This drag force varies as it depends upon the size and density of each particles. When the drag force is higher than the centrifugal force caused bythe classifying wheel, particle passes through the classifi[1]er wheel to the fine product outlet. Coarse particles are carried away by the centrifugal force due to inertia and collected at the coarse outlet through conical chamber. Cutpoint is determined when the forces are balanced in which particles passes with 50% chances. Cutpoint can be varied by varying the speed of the classifier wheel. Smaller cutpoints can be achieved efficiently with the help of secondary air inlet as it controls the amount of air in the chamber. By varying the speed of the conveying fan and classifier speed wide range of particle cutpoint is achieved.
Air purging is provided for the prevention of coarse particle to enter into the fine product with the help of compressed air for efficient sealing. Diffirent designs of classifying wheels are also available based on the requirement.
